God calls Abraham on a journey that would lead him away from all that is familiar and comfortable. Abraham responds in faith and goes. Abraham trusts in the God who: created all things, is merciful and full of grace, and has a great plan. While Abraham responds to God in faith, Abraham does this because he is aware that God is the Faithful One. God is the center of all things. God is the big one. Abraham knows that he is not. It is God who has a plan to make Abraham’s name great – if he will only go on this journey. God calls us on a journey. If we trust the Faithful One, God will lead us where we were meant to go.

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land I will show you”…So Abram went. – Genesis 12:1, 4. For this reason it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham…in the presence of God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. – Romans 4:16-17
